Need some help pricing a coin that was a mistake....

HEY! I hear that there are some knowledgable people on this forum so I'm curious. Would anyone have any information on pricing a 1979 Kennedy half dollar that has two fronts instead of a front and a back? Or any coin collectors out there that collect mistakes?

THANKS!

Sorry to say but I'd guess this was made by someone outside of the mint. These are made for magic tricks and people can also hollow out the reverse of one coin and stick another coin inside of it to create a coin with 2 heads. Take a close look and see if you can find a seam along the rim of the coin.

Tommy: Afraid to break the news, but this is almost certainly a magician's coin or a homemade oddity. Look at the coin with a loupe ... do you see any signs of obvious separation or a seam or soldering along the rims where the coin was hollowed out and the obverse of another inserted?

Drop it on the floor and see if it pops open.

  • I cannot seem to find a seam or anyhting of that nature, if it means anything my mother found it when she was working at a bank in the 80's. I will take pics and post them. but thank you for your imputs, I hope this isn't a fake p.o.s.
