IMHO it seems to be 7:00pm on Sunday night.

  • I usually shoot for 9-10PM Eastern time.

I think you have to shoot for the maximum load factor.

In other words you want your auctions to end a little before the buyers are ready to head off to bed but early enough that they have few beers in them. They are more likely to get into a bidding match and get carried away when they are loaded. Ego takes over and sometimes they need to show off to their buddies. Shoot for around 11 PM Central Friday night or Staturday night. Put the auction up for 7 days so you do get a ful weekend in there.

Oops, wait a minute, I just described what I do as a bidder.....

eminem hit it on the head. Between 9:00 and 10:00 P.M. eastern on Sunday night is the best in my opinion.

My mom sells a lot of collectible art pottery and glassware on Ebay, and I can tell you that she prefers that they end Sunday evening.

I periodically sell parrot feathers (YES, parrot feathers) on Ebay, but I haven't so much noticed a difference in the time, date ending, but I haven't really paid attention. It's about time to put up some more feather auctions, so I'll try to take note then.

The best time for an auction to end is when two snipers who very badly want the coin are at their computers.

  • I've found Sunday to be the absolutely worst day for ending an auction. IMO the best is Friday at 5:30 PM Pacific.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
  • On the weekend, but not during the Super Bowl or NBA Finals.........

I know some of you folks use 8-9PM on Sunday, but I dont because of the heavy load on that day. That is when the majority of items are ending and most folks can only keep up with one or two of the best items if ending approx the same time.

So I go with 8-9PM eastern on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. I never use Friday or Saturday night. Also dont end good coins around major auction sale dates like B@ M, heritage, etc.

Ding, ding, ding, ding!!!!!!! Russ is the winner with the correct answer.

The best time to end an auction is when you have two or more bidders who want the coin bad. In the world of ebay there is no certainty and hitting it on the right day and the right time really is just a spin of the wheel.

Also if your coin is just an average item that can always be found on ebay no time is a good time. If it's something people are hot for anytime is a good time.
  • Thanks everyone. I'll play around with your suggestions and see what happens.
