Kinda Cool Coin - Partial Incuse/Partial Relief Design

I can't say I've noticed such a design on a coin before...part of the reverse design is incuse, and part is in relief. Perhaps this is common on German Marks, although I do know this particular coin is a pattern. Anyway, for those interested, it's neat to look at.

Heh...sorry, no giveaway on this coin. James would surely murder me. But still a neat coin, nonetheless.

    NICE pattern!

The "Cartwheel" pennies and twopence from Soho would qualify as part incuse (the lettering), and part relief (the design). Some of the Russian Imperial minors from the late 19th/early 20th century had incuse dates.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
