Dave99B....I always thought the 1927-S quarter was underrated in G thru VF.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

BTW, no need to worry if you're holding the things. IMHO, they're still a good speculative play. It's not like the masses are going to become more sophisticated anytime soon.

1916 Standing Quarter
etc.
And of course,
Morgan Dollars.
<< <i>Modern commems in general. The MS Jackie Robinson $5 in particular. Who cares if they have low mintages? They are completely meaningless from a numismatic perspective.

This is a surprising perspective from a Franklin Mint collector. Of course most of the older
commems have little better reason to exist.

<< <i>High grade moderns. Interesting the number of people that have said 3-legged buffalos. I'm not a fan of this series, but I've always loved that coin. Of course, maybe that's what makes it overrated.
This is a massive number of coin types included in this. There are bullion coins, proofs, circulation issues,
varieties, commems in five different metals, errors special issues, patterns etc, etc. It seems pretty impro-
bable that they are all overvalued. Do you have any specific coins you feel are overvalued?
How about a 1982-P quarter in a nice well-struck gem? It's improbable that there are more than several
hundred examples yet they can be bought for less than $100. They can be cherry picked from $200 rolls.
It's pretty hard for me to believe that this coin is overvalued. For that to be true one would have to believe
that the next generation of collectors will be skipping clad quarters except for the states coins or that there
will be very few of them. It's incredible that the demand for this coin is so small that it can be purchased
at low prices. It hardly seems overvalued. This same applies to large numbers of high grade moderns.
I agree with the 27-s SLQ, but would even go to say VG thru Lowend XF, Only at True Xf-45 and higher is the coin actually tuff.
I would also add the 1932-d Washington in MS-63 and MS-64, Overpriced IMO currently vs the rarity of the coin.
I think the 1921-s WLH in typical Xf-40 is too high priced and overated.
I agree with the 09-s VDB in MS RB, tons available, IMO only in true "firey red" 64 and higher are they worth the current money
Of course the following:
Certified Bullion
High End MS plastic, where the coin's value is based on the number on the slab, not the coin inside!!!
most non-Proof Morgans
many toned coins (a "blast white" coin will tone in just a few months if left out in the air)
and almost any coin depicting a president.

I like Michael's idea, ANY coin that loses significant value just by removing its plastic cover.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
i wonder if my idea is true??
care to list specific coins in holders that would lose AT LEAST 50% of their value if removed from their plastic?
CARE TO LIST SPECIFIC COINS IN HOLDERS THAT WOULD LOSE AT LEAST 75% OF THEIR VALUE IF REMOVED FROM THEIR PLASTIC??
