The official old numismatist essay contest and coin give-away. Winner is Baley!
Kinda a delyed 2500 post giveaway: Old and young numismatists are welcome to enter.
Task: Write a numismatic scholarly essay in 5 words or less, you may have a bibliography but it must be contained in the 5 words. Remember, spelling counts for very little and grammar is optional.
Prize for the best and most original essay: A roll of previously-new buffalo nickels, with dates (a few barely). I mixed the dates up and I think there are about 37 distinct date/MM combos in the roll. i added a couple nicer late date ones and a couple of war nickels to finish the roll. The dates/MM's are nearly complete from 1925 - 38, I think I'm missing only 25D, 26D and 34D in that range. That means that there are a couple nicer dates in there. There are also several from the teens and early 20's. All are guaranteed circulated.
This is the perfect prize for the coin album hole-stuffer or budding numismatist out there.
Winner will be announced on Thursday the 22nd. Hopefully mailed on Friday or Saturday.
Good luck and start writing. Those 5 words could pave your way to easy street.
Edit: Just realized that the coin that my icon was made from is in the giveaway.
