There seems to be a lack of good cards here. I would love to work out some good trades but
all guys have here are basketball in the 5-8 dollar range. They will list a bunch of 3 dollar cards and then
at the bottom they will list who they are looking for in trade...Lebron, Shaq, Carmello....come on
now.

There needs to be more baseball and football collectors here too. I enjoy player collectors more than
anyone, but if you have a list of 200 cards that are worth 20 cents a piece, that isn't worth my time
looking for them. Someone needs to caugh up the good cards!

Exactly I had offers for Kobe/Payton /15 and say they wanted to go 400 bv I get 40 --10 bv cards and they are actually mad that you wont make the deal.

I agree 100% with you Joe.

But there are still alot of good people on here, just not enough

it would also help if people would post other stuff than just basketball....thats why its went down...no variety....plus,when ya do post a good card....99% of the people that want it offer you there crap cards they dont want anymore....go figure.

Well, more people on here collect basketball, and it is the height of the season, but I don't know why more high dollar cards can't be traded. Just rather sell than trade I guess, and I know it's hard for some people to afford the new boxes so they have trade bait.

wel..this board has been 99% bkb for the last 2 years now....but.....people can afford boxes...its just that they see people buying say for instance those tins...and only thing they pulled sucked...so what do they do ?...they go and buy tins themselves...with the same results lol......but they dont wanna give up high dollar cards...nobody does...they wanna get high dollar cards...but offer you crappy cards ..... ok...before i get started..i will hush

Reason people arn't here no more cause all the trading sites... Hobby Insider, SportsCardSheriff, Trader Retreat, etc, etc, etc.

TR is a good place to make big $$ trades. But I agree, the boards here have slowed down. I kinda miss that guy who used to argue (read: fight) with anyone who said a bad word about Kobe, at least he lit up the boards.

See I do not come here for the trade/sell portion. I thought this was more of a place to BS (about cards), collections, and the Hobby in general. I have learned a lot about the "Ebayers", cards, grading companies, books, Fraud, etc. in the last few months that makes this place the FIRST choice of any that I would send someone if they needed "help".

The title is COLLECTORS UNIVERSE, not buy sell and trade universe. It "all" appears to be about the $$$$.

While I dont have a problem with "it" it appears that is the "chief" complaint on this thread about the state of this site. I enjoy the conversations and information I learn from here.

Maybe you people "know" more then me about the state of the hobby. I find new stuff every week. This place is great.

The "oldies" on here remember how it used to be, lot's of trading, good conversation, and people who knew the value of cards in making trades. It's just not the same these days, a struggle to get anything traded, and most could care less about trading, just want to get the $$$. Hope it isn't becoming another lost art

board's getting slower...part of why is lack of follow up on trades...i know i've offered up several cards (baseball and basketball), people used to pm me (my pms don't work for some reason) or email me saying 'hold the card until i get $/a card you want/finish moving/etc.' and then they'd never follow up. after doing a few trades here, i decided it was easier/more worth my time (and $) to list most of my cards on ebay. i have some low, mid, and high end cards and am open to most offers, but i won't trade a prior auto /50 for a ray allen jersey swatch (someone offered me a trade like that).

i'd really like to make more trades here since i know not everyone has the $ to open wax, but if people don't follow through (and no, i'm not naming any names; it's more of a generalization based on my limited experience), it makes it hard to trade

Wellllll...... It was always better in the good old days. I'm on of those poor slobs with the $3 basketball cards. Maybe they could start a VIP room with a velvet rope to trade only cards worth $500 or more. They could have complimentary champagne and scantily clad waitresses. And wide screen TV showing the games. Things wax and wane. Sometimes one board is a little more lively and another is more deadish. Now I have to post another long list of low end basketball. Sorry , that's what I collect. I wish I had 1/1 cards and Babe Ruth autographs, but then I wish I had a Porsche and was married to Jennifer Jason Leigh, and that just ain't gonna happen either.

It will come and go here. At the end, I will always be here...unless they remove the board. Its what you make it. Yeah, there are more sites but if you dont take the time to post here, then of course there will not be any posts.

My take is, if you dont like it here, leave. If you do, stay. I know I always will.

That's well said.

For me, $3 trades aren't worth it. I mean it would cost me more to ship the cards over there than what they're actually worth. But I don't think the low end traders mess up the board. A lot of people collect commons & inserts of their favorite player(s), I used to do that as well back when I started to collect Shaq.

I think it's the people who have $3 cards and want $20 autos for it that ruin things.

Thats where we get into the "money" thing. If you have a $20 card that you got out of a pack you paid $4 for why cant you take $3 trade for it if it is a card you like/want/need? People are to focused on the $$ that is why I do not trade. If I want it I will buy it. If I dont need/want it I will sell it. Trading is "supposed" to be what you want for what you want to give, not it has to be the same value dollar for dollar. Trading is NOT what is used to be.

This is for my personal collecting not for the business end BTW.

Yeah, we've had these discussions many times on here and I always have to complain. Simply put, there are too many people wanting to only trade a certain way and it limits the oppotunities to trade. "I'll only trade my $200 card for a $200 card, but am willing to trade my $200 for your $300 card if you can find another $100 worth of cards from my site". LOL. Too much of that crap where people wont trade down but expect you to do it for them. $hit like that yanks my chain.

I recently agreed to a sale with a member on here for a lot of cards. This is one of the older members who is supposedly respected (as I used to respect him), but he has decided to not send payment as he promised and now will not even reply to my emails... Good thing I told him I wouldn't send until I received payment. What an A-hole...

BTW, there's something to be said for each site and what they offer. This is the first site I found when I hit the net and I have made some good friends here. What does seem odd though is this.

This board was full of idiots for quite a long time posting useless crap all of the time. They decide to announce a full time moderator here to clean stuff up and everyone complains because "they wont be able to have fun here anymore". But yet they have been complaining about this site because there is too much crap and say how their favorite site is so great, yet most don't allow this kind of crap either. Seems like a contradiction to me.

Yes Joyce, I do agree. The sad thing is that I have had tons of fun trading on here the last few years until lately. But not even just on here, but many of the boards. I find myself doing everything I can to save time by stating exactly what I am wanting in trade or sale, but I still end up going through 20 emails before they finally decide they don't want to do it anymore. Burns my britches

As for the guy I spoke of, I'm sure Mike may have filled you in and if not you can just ask him. Fact is, I took a couple hours to create a list for him, find pricing and come to a very fair total. He didn't pay for a couple of weeks, so I got ahold of him and asked what was up. He said he had a few problems but they were under control and he would have payment out withing a couple of days. It's been another three weeks since then (5 weeks total) and he just wont respond to me anymore. He has had time to post here a couple of times, but not to email me with a response. Don't care about the excuses anymore or lack of them. Fact is, I feel he's just inconsiderate and will no longer deal with him. And it makes me more angry because I think the older members (in age and time of membership) should be setting examples for the new members to let them know how things should be run. This isn't a good example...
