glad the big boys have stayed away from 1955 Bowman (for now...)
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Does anyone know if the person who outbid me is the former publisher of the Los Angeles Times or just the name is the same?
Collector of baseball PSA sets from the 1970's & hockey rookie cards; big New York Rangers fan (particularly now that they are sleeping with the enemy with Holik and Kaspiritus). Also starting to collect 53 Bowman Color as I think they are the most beautiful cards I have seen.
I am working on the 53 Bowman Color set and have been watching this card.WAY out of my league, though.Chris must be needing an upgrade as he had a thread last week proclaiming his completion of this set.His head must be spinning as I am sure that when he put a bid of 7 grand in,he undoubtly must have thought it was a slam dunk.I wonder how bad he wants this upgrade ??

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
Not trying to stir up trouble here, but does that holder looked absolutely thrashed just below the label to anyone else?
Actually, the holder looks fine to me. That stuff below the label appears to be the mylar insert PSA put the card in before putting it in the slab. '53 Bowman's are slightly narrower than '52 - '56 Topps, so PSA probably feels that the mylar insert is a good idea.

as sad as it may seem, I have to agree this is a shill bidder. although tokyogirl has 5000+ feedbacks, there are only 5 feedbacks from sellers. 2 for cigars (mydiscountcigars) , 1 for what can be presumed as a cigar humidor , and 2 from sellers of books for less than $10. now this person has a liking for high grade sportscards only from dfco. also, this cigar smoking person with no ebay sportscard experience realizes the value of low pop commons for $1000's of dollars only from dfco. does look like sushi to me.

Mr. Renaud, that is one hell of a set of brass ones you got! Amazing that it was topped!

Bingo !
On a side note, is Tokyo Girl generally a big player in 1953 Bowman Color auctions ?
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
Just curious what others makes of this bidding pattern. Huge number of transactions - but no completed deals over the past 9 months...
The 3rd bidder its just odd.
Groucho Marx
hey, i kind of like this no caps thing!
jeb.
jeb - the seller, dfco, is the new owner of SGC.
I doubt that he would be using shills to run up his auction prices.
"How about a little fire Scarecrow ?"
must be a coincidence then that tokyogirl only bids on that sellers high priced auctions over the past month and never wins any
just a thought

From "her" my eBay page....
<< <i>Need some SAKURA and NIPPONIA ? >>
Is that Japanes for T & A ?
Gotta agree with the SGC and GAI crowd on this one.
As long as I have a grading company pres that will smooze me,
I really don't give a crap about the resale value of my collection ...
