Does anyone have any insight as to where the hockey material surfaced from on mastronet ?

I noticed there is also a lot of opc baseball material. Perhaps some of our Canadian friends

have some insight.

    marc, I am not 100% positive but i read somewhere that it is from canada. the 59 and 63 baseball boxes were both 36 pack boxes indicating they came from canada along with all the opc baseball boxes

    I think most hockey collectors are praying that the winners
    of the hockey material are dealers and not collectors.

    I think the Vintage Hockey uncut sheets (66, 67 Topps, 68, 69 etc OPC) & the unopened 1952
    Topps box are from OPC (London, ON)?
    There was a television program on TSN (the Canadian counterpart to ESPN), back in the early
    90s, a OPC employee opened a pack of 1952 Topps baseball from a unopened box (on air). In
    the series, the host/narrator mentioned that there was a uncut sheet of 1966-67 Topps Hockey
    (Orr RC) displayed in the head office of OPC.
    I think the TV series was called, Sports Cards: phenomena of the 90s, hosted by Teresa
    Hegert(?)

    Regarding the 54 Topps Hockey Packs. Does anyone know of any confirmed sales of authentic unopened 54 or 57 for that matter in the last year or two? If so, what did they sell for. I was just looking at Mark Murphy's unopened pack guide and it list's 54 topps packs at $2500 and 57's at $1500. While I realize this is just a guide how realistic do these value's seem.

    I have a feeling that we're going to see some new ground broken for the hockey segment of our hobby by the time this Mastro auction is through. Given the quantity and quality of available hockey product and the exposure it is realizing in this auction we may be fortunate to attract some new blood into the segment.

    I will enjoy being a spectator watching it all go down. I think I will hold off this time around and save my pennie's for next year when the Unopened 30's OPC material surfaces.image

    Well Tom it all depends on my pending house sale and how long i think i can actually live in a tent. lol . Seriously im hoping they fall into somebody's hands that wants to turn them over on a pack by pack basis

    I have seen a 1 cent 54 pack sell for around $ 500 back in 2000 or 2001. With those packs you can actually see the only card inside so the only person bidding on those would be pack collectors. I was told that someone opened 3 1cent packs and submitted the 3 cards for grading and it came back 2 7's 1 8

    1954 Topps hockey nickel packs have been around before. 10-12 years ago, it would have cost you at least a $2,000-2,500. It's safe to say, they've increased in price since then. I would guess at least $4k or 5k a piece. Probably closer to $7.5 k for the really high grade ones.

    Have the 57's ever been offered before? Let alone the mid 60's packs.

    Welcome to the boards. Teemu certainly has brought hoarding hockey cards to a whole new level. Im waiting for the day that he admits that he owns all 3 Schmidt 54 8's image . As a side note i asked Tom to throw me a couple bones over in the scrap yard and he used you as a scapegoat . He said you were working on the latest project and he would get back to me. So im hoping that he blows some cash with Mastro and will actually accept a few peanuts

    Did he mention to you that we were thinking about holding a hockey convention in Astoria ? lol
