Auto Advice please

have them sign a card
that way you can get it authenticated
and slabbed from PSA/DNA - PSA combo deal

IF you have them sign the slab
(using a sharpie works fine... see photo below)
it does not look as good
and then you have to send the
whole slab to PSA/DNA and likely pay more
for the sig to get authenticated
(and the sig will not likely survive time
in that form)

Is this a charity event where playing entitles you to mix and ask for sigs? If not, then I can tell from my limited experience from Augusta - I was stationed there and everyone hits on the players - celebs come to practice rounds also - if you catch them right - and politely hand them one item, if they are a signer, you're in - guys who walk up with a bunch seem to be rebuffed - something large that they can see from a par 3 distance - well they may try to avoid you. The problem I found with seeking sigs is that EVERYONE is hitting on these guys with stuff to sign. I found when I was with my son, the chances increased immensely.

I don't know how much time you have, but Sports Illustrateds are fantastic signed IMO. If you have a list of who's appearing, you can go here and see if they've ever made the cover. Then you can usually get a copy from dealers who deal in SI's, or on Ebay. I don't know if you have the time or are interested in the effort to secure the magazines but they display very well are a nice store of value.
