    Birdman,

Let me be the first to say,

    YOU SUCK!

(On this board, that playfully means, "nice coin, I wish I got to it first." It is a compliment, not an insult. image

I just took a look through their online inventory. VERY few slabbed coins. Again, nice catch!

I'm looking all over online to find a picture of the D/D variety and can't seem to find a picture of it, so I can compare and contrast.

    SWEEEEET !!!!
the only gold I've got is some Eagles and maple Leafs.
Now I see why the older stuff is so desirable.
    Thanks for sharing.

Aren't they all the D/D variety, or very many of them? That's what I have (also from HJB, by the way). Is it more valuable?

MS64, Wow, Way to go. Today I was looking at a St. Gaudins 1910 NCG63, decided to buy $10 Gold Indian at NCG62. Did I make a mistake?

    Kuch,

There is no right answer to your question. The $10 Indians are generally less common. It is my opinion that the $10 Indians in MS-62 and MS-63 often have less eye appeal for the grade than the similarly graded Saints. I hope you picked a nice one and are happy with it. Maybe your next coin will be the $20.

Birdman your coin appears to be one of the fairly graded varieties. The reverse looks more like a 63 to me with the obverse a solid 64. The bright lustre is definately the coin's strong suit. Keep posting the Saints

The Gold coin market seems to be topping out. Prices are going down. Has Europe opened its vault to the flood of St. Gaudens.

RYK, yes, thinking St Gaudins will be much easier to find down the road, $10 Indians are more scarce.

I actually looked at a $10 Indian at Harlan and it seemed a bit pricey compared to the past auctions at Heritage.com.

    what do you think?

I keep hearing that a bill is pending in the congress that would allow individual investors to have coins in their IRA portfolio. Does this have any validity ?

I agree with that observation on the eye appeal of Indians vs. Saints in this price range. I've owned a couple in the 62-63 range, and when I decided to upgrade my coins across the board, I sold them off because they just didn't have what I was looking for. I have not replaced them yet. I'm going to hold out for a really nice 65 or 66, and I expect it's going to cost a bunch. Consequently, I don't expect to own another $10 Indian for some timeimage

That 32 $10 looks O.K. in the picture. Note that it is next to impossible to find a 32 with a complete lower headress feather. The thing you need to understand about prices is there are vast differences between coins, same date, same grade. I would pay crazy prices for some coins and wouldn't buy others at any price. On Saints, Liberty's fingers are a strike key. On $10 Indians one is the afore mentioned lower headress feathers. After you've seen many coins the marks, luster, and eye appeal are obvious. The strike is less so.
I'd rather be lucky than good.
