My wife's "found in change" from yesterday

LanLordLanLord Posts: 11,756 ✭✭✭✭✭
As I was sitting on the couch yesterday, my wife was sorting coins from a fund raiser that she is working for the elementary school where she works.

Out popped a half dollar that didn't look right to her, so she tosses it over to me.

It was a 1943 Walker. In Fine condition, perhaps a little shiney.

That was quite a thrill, but then I started wondering about who spent it. I sort of feel sorry for them, I hope they didn't raid mom or dads coin collection, or worse, I hope they aren't spending valuables because of any hardship.

It is cool to see a Walker in circulation! It's now my pocket piece.

Or it's another coin collector "seeding" the world, hoping to get someone else interested in numismatics.

LanLord: If you are going to keep it in your pocket, please don't spend it by mistake image

That's a pretty cool find. I'd like to think it's a benevolent numismatist spreading the gospel, or at worst, someone who just doesn't care about coins.

I owned/operated a small coffee shop for a period, and I would always keep some steel cents, other wheats, and even a few worn out IHCs in the register. I would give them to certain customers that I "liked" and wanted to show a little extra attention toimage

it is kind of funny what we think of when we find these coins as compared to most people
i guess that's why we collect them
