Building a 20th Cent Major Strike Set.....

On the state quarters, do they mean ALL the state quarters from 1999 or just one?

For the type set, just one.

    Who's "they"?

I think it depends on the collector, I'd definitely consider each of the 5 designs a different "type" as they are obviously different, and besides, how hard is it to collect them all?

Of course, I consider the 1921 peace dollar different from the later dates, the 1917-24 SLQs different from the 1925-30 recessed date ones, the zinc Lincolns different from the pre-1982 ones, etc.

for a basic type set, one doesn't need to worry about more minor design (or composition) changes, but as one shoots for more "complete" representation of all the different types, lots of little variables matter.
