Coin Vault Gold
Just have to vent again about Coin Vault...
They are selling 4 coin sets of Gold Eagles ($5, $10, $25, $50). I got two problems with them. They keep saying it is 24 karat pure gold when it is actually 22 karat gold! They also keep saying over and over how if you buy the 4 coin set you are getting 2 ounces of gold when in actuallity you are getting 1.85 ounces of gold! I realize .15 ounces is not a super big deal but when your talking about something as pricey as gold it's not small amount either.....mostly it's the principle of the matter though that bugs me.
ugh.
whew...venting all done, I feel better now

Great investment. As long as gold hits $700/ounce and stays there.
When they are worth between $200 and $250, I think the markup is a tad usury!
i get up in the AM, very early. like to turn on the CoinVault, drool over coins, laugh at the pitch n' pricing.
so saturday i get this:
they're selling an undated, entombed, lincoln error, the 'bow tie' error, no date. about $8K, i think. its NGC, MS65. bow tie, cause that is what it looks like. reverse, you can see lincoln memorial, obverse is planchet. very little 'coin', very little metal. error coin.
so here's what chambers said: bought it at FUN auction. so that begs the question, from y'all FUN attendees:
was this piece auctioned there?
what did it get?
so that we can determine CoinVault markup.
then....
i was watching saturday morning. then the show REPEATED! same show was on sunday too!
anyhow he was hawking a morgan GSA CC, think it was 1890 or something. during the show, later on, he mentioned that it had been sold. same thing showed up in the re-run/repeats.
so, the question is:
if i was watching a 'repeat', he hawks the 90CC, i'm thinking i can buy. but if it had been sold during the first, live, original show, how can it be hawked later? what is real and what ain't on this darn show?
how do they do that?
I saw that they are also selling coins in the new NGC 4 coin set slabs. They seem to work quite closely with NGC.

-It's on its way so leverage your overpriced real estate now while you have the chance.
I love it when the sell BU Morgans and the guy is fingering them to death! Also, the ones they show on camera are not the ones in your lot - believe me, GUARANTEED!! The on camera ones are probably BU sliders - yours will be low AU with fingerprints, rim dings and, oh yes, just a "few bag marks" - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
But, you can get them on flex pay - only four payments of $49.99 or whatever - four months of being reminded what a chump you are for buying from them!

I asked that same question awhile back. They'll re-run a show several times.
For what it's worth, many folks feel the same way about Littleton (i.e. mass marketing approach with very high markups), but QDB himself has always spoken quite highly about the Littleton folks. If he thinks they're OK, he must have a reason.

I've noticed that too. I guess as long as NGC is accurately grading them, it's none of their business what the Coin Vault people do with them.
