What's With All The 2003-P MS69 Lincoln Cents?
To date PCGS has slabbed a whopping 187 MS69 Lincoln cents -- far and away the highest number of Lincoln cents in this grade. There are many years that don't have any MS69s, and for the remainder only a handful made it.
Where in the hell did all of these monster cents come from?
Oh, here's mine

Even though I am a Lincoln cent specialist and should defend these things, I agree with you 100%.

Ok, I'll buy them all for 10 cents each. On second thought...

No, that would be all the MS68s
struck and often have PL surfaces. Whatever they are "worth" they would make a
beautiful collection and a few of the dates will prove elusive.
As to value it might be remembered That there were substantially more than 186 col-
lectors of Lincolns back in the early 1960's which was the last time a new generation
of collectors were added.
Compare to the 2003-D nickels. On these the strike was a little weak, they look like the planchet were in a rock tumbler before striking, then each coin was dropped 40 ft onto the other fresh coin before the half filled 40 gallon drum and rolled them half a mile down a track. And this is for the ones that went into the mint sets! I'd say average grade in the sets was about MS62/3.
