2004 Morgan Dollar

Anyone think that Congress should authorize the Mint to produce Morgan dollars for the year 2004 to celebrate 100 years since the regular run ceased production in 1904. How bout a P, S and O issue in proof and regular strike. I was gonna say P, O, S but the Mint already makes enough of those. I know Morgans were struck in 1921 but the uninterrupted run was from 1878 to 1904. I want them now as I may not be here in 2021.

    Great Idea! But really, the best shot we have at that is as a commemorative. Unc and proof style only and they would be .9993 from West Point only and sold as singles in the display boxes.

    No, they should start minting bust dollars, in coin silver, to commemorate the 200th year they stopped making themimage

    Imagine MS-69 bust dollars, using the original dies, open collar, now that would be a coin.

    It would get confusing with the other commeratives being minted by others.

    It seems like once a month I see an ad for a 1879 CC just coined last night and then some one sells it on ebay as the real thing.

    The other one I see duplicated/replicated is the 1878 S.

    I also thought I saw some other country used the obverse for a recent coin maybe 2003.

    You're right...it may be confusing due to others making the ripoff Morgans, but, I would LOVE that image

    The mint would be getting the money, people would be getting actual Mint commems or whatever, and maybe there would be less chance for scammers in that area.
    I would buy some from the USMint, but I won't buy from the other fools.

    It would be nice if they did do it, but I think it is too late for the suggestion to them image

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Good idea, but I like the historical idea of Morgans. A new one would kind of lessen that IMHO.

    Some kind of Morgam Commem might be a good idea. image

    I don't think the Mint can act on their own. It takes Congressional and/or Presidential approval.
