Interesting wheat I found

I got a 1968 wheat penny in my change the other day and said oh what the hey I'll take a look at it. Well, as I began ro inspect the coin I noticed that the "B" in Liberty looked funny. So I examined it under my loupe and it turns out that part of the number 8 was stamped over the "B". You can see the "B" clearly on the top half, but on the bottom half of the "B" you see the top half of the number 8 covering over the "B". Anyway it's looks really neat and it's the real first error I have found....I think

Darn I'm so sorry..... a '68 Lincoln Memorial. I was looking at wheats and got mixed up. I feel so stupid

Can you show a photo of it? I find it a little hard to believe that it is an 8, unless it is some kind of rotated double strike. It sounds more like machine doubling or some kind of die fatigue (die deterioration doubling.) The numbers and lettering were not "stamped" by this time. Of course, it's hard to say anything about it without seeing it.

I'd love to show a picture but I don't have a scope to get a good enough shot of it. Error coins are still something I have to learn. But there is something very strange about the strike on the "B" in Liberty.

It's probably a "dropped letter." The 8 recess in the die filled up with crud {filled die} then later fell out onto a planchet in the striking chamber and was struck into the coin. Not a valuable error but a cool one anyway with a slight prem.
