completed 1878-1890 morgan

Hope you folks don't mind me spouting off a bit as I have no one
else to tell who would really understand.
I just completed my morgan collection 1878-1890.
All coins are U-BU with a 1879-cc AU, 1884-s AU, and a 1889-cc XF+.
I have been working on the 1878-1921 morgan collection for
about two years and today I popped in the 1889-cc.
Couldn't wait any longer for an AU.
The 1890-1921 book has three holes left 1893-s, 1894-p and 1895-p.
The lowest grade is an AU..so far.
Thanks for all the forum help to date.

  • Great going! My 78-90 book is complete with the exception of an 89 CC and an 85 CC. I purchased the 89 and I am awaiting delivery. I am bidding on the 85 right now. I hope to have the book complete in a couple of weeks.

  • Congrats on completing the set! As a newbie just geting started, would it be in extremely bad taste to ask roughly what it cost ($ and time) to put together?

    Subman610,

Welcome to the boards. Ask anything you would like about coins about these fine and knowledgeable persons. As one who shares your icon, I can tell you that the members will explicitly tell you if your question is in bad taste. (but they will not hold it against you!)

Congrats! I'm little bit behind you. The only ones left in the 1878-1890 book are all the CCs. One at a time!

  • Congrats, I bet that set looks beautiful side by side. Post some pics if you can.
  • You folks are all great!
I knew I would get the understanding and kudos here.
I wish I could post a few pics. We have a digital camera
but I haven't taken the time to understand it yet!
I need to get my wife to help me with this, although her idea of
fun is not photographing my coins.
Someone asked about the cost to put together.
I have about $5500 in the first book and $8000 in the second to date.
Prices vary alot on slight increases in grades as you all know
and I tried real hard to do the best job I could. Since I worked on it for
two years the earlier buys were better than the latest ones.
It does not matter to me as my goal was not to sell it.
This was a big deal to me as I sold my first coin collection around 1980
to pay for part of my college. Its always bugged me a bit knowing most of it
was melted down during that metals boom.
Peace and harmony to you all!
