Halfs and Dollars at the Bank or Credit Union

Do any of you have luck at finding anything from rolls of halfs or dollars at the bank or cresit union ? If you do how often do you get them and how much do you get and how often do you find coins worth keeping? Just curious.

I haven't gone looking for rolls of halves in a while, but it varies widely. I've gotten rolls full of beat-up ex-Casino clad halves and solid rolls of beautiful 1964 Kennedies.

Dollars (Ike, that is) I usually get in dribs and drabs.

Over time I check out various banks and ask them if they have half dollar rolls. A few carry them and I keep going back to them to get halves. I don't get too much good stuff and spend what I don't keep.

Regarding Ikes, I hadn't seen any for seven years until recently. I got 50 in three separate trips since I'm not rich. None of them were nice but I kept a few and spent the rest. I like the reaction I get from most people when I spend seldom seen coins.

I belong to a credit union, and I've noticed that they don't have BU rolls that banks do. I have not tried this, but have asked the question at my credit union, which is how I know. Welcome to the forums, AJ2525!

Yes it takes luck to find anything. I go every 2 weeks when I drop my check.

First you'll have to have a bank teller who doesn't collect coins

After the first couple visits they'll figure you out.

And secondly they'll have to actually have the halves. Usually someone else has to deposit them.

Forget Ikes, for dollars you'll get SBA's and Sac's - both circulated trash.

Last week I picked up $33 in halves, and all were spenders except an electro-plated 1964. Pretty goofy Golden Kennedy, and it matches a Golden Ike I got in a roll last summer.

I have had a LOT of success getting half dollars from banks. I have found literally hundreds of WL and franklin half dollers at several banks. KEEP LOOKING!

A few months ago I got $150 in halves from the bank, and got jack

I really thought I would get at least one 40% half

2 years ago I got 7 rolls that were mostly Franklins and Walkers, with a mix of 1964s, 40% and clad halfs.

There's a local branch of my bank that stocks about $200 in halfs. They order them in from their money suppliers.
