I would be happy to see you, Heath. I have a well-stocked store in downtown Silver Spring, primarily US coins, but with a healthy dose of US currency and world coins & currency. I will be here until at least 4 today, and maybe some tomorrow. Let me know when would be most convenient to you. Julian Bonanza Coins 301 585 1480
PNG member, numismatic dealer since 1965. Operates a retail store, also has exhibited at over 1000 shows. I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
Metro Coin and Currency is in Jessup, MD. It is not a neighborhood coin store, but rather a regional coin supply store. They do big business with dealers for coins, currency, supplies, etc. They are fantastic people to do business with, once you get past the cheesy area of their storefront. I think that depending on your interests, it is probably worth the drive.
I highly recommend Julian's place. He's located in downtown Silver Spring. It's easily accessible and he is always very approachable. Julian is one of the most honorable and collector friendly dealers that I have ever known. He treats everyone as if they were his biggest and most important customer.
Would someone be able to give me a better sense of where Metro Coin is in Jessup? Is it near the Farmer's Market or is it closer to Odenton?
I've been surprised that there are not more quality coin shops in the D.C. area. Given the size of the population and the level of income, one would think that it would be a hotbed for the numismatic business.
P.S. Thanks very much to the 14 folks who rated me so kindly after my post the other day about being here for two years and never receiving a rating. I very much appreciate it.
Happy New Year and the best that 2004 may offer to one and all. (I wish there was an emoticon for a hearty handshake!)
