Found my first error ...

In a gallon jug of coins.
Probalby should save it,but will likely ebay it as funds are dwindling.
What kind of premium should one expect for an off center strike such as this ?imageimage

    I've found some clips and cuds and a blank planchet or two- even a verrrry slightly off-center cent, but that quarter is a great find! Congrats! image

    So close to having a readable date, but seeings as the hair is more defined it has to be after '92 or '95 whenever they switched over, can't recall offhand.

    It is either a 1987 or 1997,by process of deduction.
    Obviously a 19 something.
    From the top part of the 3rd number visible,it can either be an 8 or 9,and the last number is almost
    surely a 7,though possibly a 3.

    If its a 1997 then I,d say it has Dog97`s name written all over it.

    Got it up on ebay already (I know I'll regret it} I'll post a link in the trading forum.

    Yeah fingerprint my bad. I hope its mine and not a 5 year old one.
    Likely give it a quick dip then slab it.

    I have a 1995 Wash.quarter that's some 25 percent offcenter,paid $17.00 for it earlier this year.

    Guess that seems about the going rate,but you never know with ebay.
    The way I see it is if I can't get $20 for this coin,I'll put it in an airtite and add it to my collection.
    Then some day my great grandkids can try their luck on ebay image.

    UH, Please DONT dip that Clad coin. It WILL ruin it for sure.

    Clad coins just dont dip well. Believe me.

    edited to add; Oh it may look great for a month or so after an acid bath but it WILL turn (tone badly)
    soon after.

    I'll take your word on that,and won't dip clad.
    I use 'e-Z-est' coin cleaner ,and it says nothing about being harmful to clad.
    I'll just try some warm water and a little soap and be happy with that.
    I'm sure that prints mine,as I wans't expecting to find a gem in that jarfull of change.

    It's cool looking but minor common circulated errors don't generate much interest and you'll be going good if you get any bids @ $19.99.

    Cool find. My best is a 1982 Lincoln cent (found in 1982) with a cud that "E TR" in IN GOD WE TRUST. Unfortunately someone took a red pen and outlined the bottom of the cud, but still cool looking.

    I would keep this. Provides much more enjoyment than $20 to me.

    Errors are always fun. My first true error coin I found was a Washington as well. Mines kind of neat in that the obverse is slightly off-center(straight up 6-12 oclock off center too), with the date being chopped in half, while the reverse is perfectly normal. Makes me wonder how it got off-center if it was all the way in the slot when the dies hit. Maybe the obverse die was off-set? Pics maybe tomorrow.

    Your right. $20 is a pack of smokes,half a tank of gas [if that],then its gone like the wind.
    I might just cancel that auction,if such a thing is possible.
