Need a good chewin' out?

Check out this Ebay auction and read the paragraph above the photo. I guess that's one way to try to get people to up their bids.

I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!

<< <i>bid a fair bid for a PQ coin >>
Funny thing, he hasn't listed any...
While I agree with pulling coins if they're not going to do well, I dont agree with the unprofessional manner of the seller.
I went there, started looking at some Ikes to see if I wanted to bid, saw that message and stopped.
I was insulted. Saying that he buys and sells so he needs to make money...sure, I understand that, but if you want to sell on ebay and feel that way, put in a reserve or start your price at the minimum you can allow.
I just get VERY turned off on sellers that do things like pull the auctions because they aren't enough (I saw an auction that had a reserve for 5 or 7 days...no bids. Seller dropped the reserve ~$30 with a BIN as well. Someone bid and the item ended up going up another $70 in the last day or less (newest reserve was $195 with a $220 BIN. Closing price was $303.99).
That person may have lost on the coin if only 1 person bid, or no one did, but he didn't pull it (even when the original @ $220 with a BIN of $240 didn't get bids). He ended up making a bit more than if he pulled it too!!!
I am sure I am just ranting and the seller(s) won't bother realizing that their wording/actions turn off potential bidders now and in the future, but....well...I needed to.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Just my thoughts....not meant to offend anyone..........
Toned Contemporary coins will sometimes sit and not budge for most of the auction- getting a few token bids at the beginning and then a flurry of activity, only at the very end.
It's the nature of eBay on some types of coins.
It's a shame this isn't always understood and auctions ended prematurely. a shame not only for the Collector, but I honestly believe, for the Seller.

But...I always see people boasting about their 99 cent open or their auctions being "True Auctions." That's fine and dandy if you aren't working on a really tight budget. I don't list coins to lose money. I also don't have to end auctions because my bids aren't skyrocketing.
*******************************************************************************
For me personally...
If it is not a high value coin I list it at 99cents and no reserve to save on listing fees. Since I'm not expecting much for it I'm not worried about it getting few bids.
If I am selling a high value coin I still list it at 99cents to save on fees, however I do put a reserve on the auction. I also state the reserve amount in the description...not like it's a big secret or anything. If it sells then great I get what I want for it. If it doesn't sell at least I get a partial refund and nobody is screwed out of an opportunity.
In almost 100% of my coin auctions I have noticed a very regular bidding trend. Multiple bids early on and then the auction flatlines. Maybe get 1 or 2 more bids from day 2 to day 6. On the last day I usually get a few more bids and then in the last hour or two several bids come in all the way up to the close of auction.
I guess the auction cancelling thing is just a pet peeve of mine.
I am not going to say much more, but I am going to put 2 links....you guys can infer what you want from them and comment (there is more to say based on a few things I looked at and saw, but this will do for right now):

Anyone notice anything about these 2 auctions?

He probably does have it in hand. The other auction closed on 12/6/03, so, I would say it is likely he has it in hand to sell.
Auction ends 12/6/03, new auction started 12/19/03
Supercoin ships very quickly and is a great guy so it was probably received within 3-5 days depending on payment. I've dealt with Supercoin a couple of times (on this board...buying a few things.....really great person to deal with!)

"On Dec-23-03 at 11:16:13 PST, seller added the following information:
At this point these bids are SHAMEFUL. I have to buy the coins and make a living by selling them. I dont mind making a small profit, but the bids I am seeing here for PQ coins are absolutely absurd and will not get it the job done. I am going to run these auctions for 24 more hours and if I dont see what I believe is fairness of the part of you the buyers, I am going to end the autions and sell them in other locations. A bargain is a bargain, I like to get one to, but bidding so far isnt close to even a bargain its more like highway robbery. Therefore if you want one or more of the coins you see, bid a fair bid for a PQ coin. Sincerely, BLKCHEVY6."
At this point, he is making about 1000% percent profit. How much does he "need" to make a living? And why should the sellers guarantee that he make a profit at all? He doesn't have to do this for a living; he could find some other line of work. What a complete loser and jerk.

1. VERY rude and insulting!
2. I would NEVER give his auctions a second look.
3. Tad did a great job listing them in the first place.....GREAT pics, descriptions, ending times and a SUPER reputation as a seller!! What makes this guy think he can attract MORE $$ than Tad did ONLY a couple of weeks later?
Sure, he used Tad's great pics and descriptions (I am assuming with permission).....but he left the description in "first person" like it was HE who found it and had it slabbed for it's toning,.....which is an all-out lie!
4. This guy was obviously worried about losing a few bucks. What he has lost instead is worth even more,........potential and future customers.
Merry ChristmasTo All!!

<< <i> Now to the reason I am writing you. If you take a close look there are now no auctions from me to bid on. I wasnt Rude I was just to the point. I refuse to let what is obviously a group of people on EBAY right now that are to cheap to buy anything nice all year or other dealers that are bottom fishing to steal my items to only sell them again in FEB at a hugh
profit. Where is that fair?
If you see another EBAY auction from me its completely up to you a to whether you
bid or not, that is your choice. But think back if you bought something from me was it not
the way I described it would be, was it not packaged carefully to wear it wouldnt be torn up inroute. It seems awfully quick people forget the little things.
Am I not allowed to voice my opinion when I think I am being cheated?
Well at any rate I think you see my side now whether you like it or not. >>
I agree with his thinking, just not the way it was handled. He should have ended the auctions and re-posted them with a reserve if he was THAT worred!
PS: same with TELETRADE rainbow auctions....check the prices for the really neat coins with 5 minutes to go and then compare with the final bid.....

I have not had a reserve on any of coins sold yet and no shill bidder either
<< <i>I got an E-Mail from the seller saying...
or other dealers that are bottom fishing to steal my items to only sell them again in FEB at a hugh profit. >>
Does anyone know this fellow HUGH Profit, to which he refers?
I guess he loses my money as well..
I know someone out there wants to sell stuff. Not complain that they did not start the bid high enough or that the add on BIN cost to much for him to do business.
Sure take you marbles and go home.
I'll take my money elsewhere.
