Trugrade slab with counterfeit 16-D?

Saw this thread on r.c.c. What do you Merc guys think of this 16-D?

    I don't know the difference between counterfeit/genuine, but I'd be suspicious that it's not in a good holder, simply because $15 for slabbing will bring MUCH more in the long run...

    I would think the coin to be real. I think the coin would only grade AG with PCGS. The location of the D looks right, and the serifs are there.

  • Looks like an AG-3 to me, the D seems to have consistant wear with the rim. Therefore it seems legit.

    I agree with the AG3 opinions. Its a nice RAW 16D, worth around $350. tops., as is the case with an AG3 which is RAW, as is this one. I would not recommend purchasing raw key dates sight unseen, as is the case here.
  • I agree with the assessments of the coin being genuine and also on the grade only being AG3.
