  Well actually my parents never collected, my grandparents owned a small carry out store and they plucked the silver and wheats from the cash register. When they died a few years ago my parents gave it to me. They knew nothing about it. I started looking through it and got hooked, i don't believe that you need to buy them anything. Just give them a bag of old silver and stuff and see if they like it, maybe they too will be hooked and then they will appreciate it more if you buy something of some value for them.

  Based solely on my boy, start watching your collection when the oldest turns 16. that is when my son started needing more money(coin) for his activities(so he thought). I lost several gold bullion coins to gas money, dates, etc. He took them to a local that calls himself a coin dealer!!

  Already on top of your warning! Thanks! I just hope he's not like I was.. It went for more GOODIES other than gas and the average spending money that a 16yr.old feels he/she needs...
