Concerning the YN........

especially your children: At what age do you think is adequate to STOP buying and giving them coins (cutting them loose from the numismatic umbilical cord) and let them seek, if indeed they've acquired a taste for numismatics after what you/we've done for them, and let them go out on their own and seek the coins they desire?
I have 4 boys: 14, 12, 9 and the baby. The 9 yr.old LOVES THE SPORT! The others don't seem to have the least interest in coins. I'm tired of frivolously spending money on them to peek their interests...

What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

Based solely on my boy, start watching your collection when the oldest turns 16. that is when my son started needing more money(coin) for his activities(so he thought). I lost several gold bullion coins to gas money, dates, etc. He took them to a local that calls himself a coin dealer!!
