Elk & Duck Wildlife Medals

I have not received either of these last two Medals. Has anyone received the Elk or the Duck Wildlife Medal? Does anyone know the expected shipment date of these Medals. It took about three months to get the Salmon.image

..........and i'll bet the bidders on all those eBay auctions are PO'd and hopefully bombarding the sellers with e-mails. confirmed orders aside, i can't understand how eBay allows sellers to sell an item they don't have and can't produce within a reasonable time. then again, if a bidder wants to wait and pay a stiff premium, so be it. i have noticed that the prices are already coming down by approximately half on some of them.

  • I checked my mint orders yesterday. According to the mint, my Elk was scheduled for delivery on 12-01-03 and the Duck on 12-15-03. Neither one has been shipped. It is really a mark of poor operations when our mint can not mint and deliver a coin or medal in the same calendar year, don't you think?

What makes it even more outrageous is the fact that I have a subscription for this series of medals. My understanding was that subscriptions would be serviced first. BAD BUSINESS, but that's our government at work.image

    hello Gary

i don't think the negative in it is the Mint not meeting a schedule as much as it is making the schedule in the first place. no doubt they have quite a bit on their plate with the various programs going on, changes at the end of the year for 2004, possibly some programs for other Nations, etc., maintenance problems and whatever may come down the pike. coupled with the holiday orders is the fact that i seriously doubt the Mint envisioned that program selling out as quickly as it did. my hunch right now is that there probably isn't much available press time or they're having trouble with the dies.

  • Al, You could be right. I would think that with a maximum of 25,000 for each of the silver medals after the Bald eagle mintage of 35,000, that they could have whipped them out quickly and been done with it. I really think that they under-estimated the popularity of these wildlife medals and being unprepared got them into the situation that you described.
