Then I'm not insane....okay maybe just a wee bitimage
  • no. Nice colors at 200.00
  • Not me....
  • It's nice, but just a little high.

    Sort of like this one.

This particular seller tends to be a bit unrealistic in his pricing compared to market values. However, yes Ikes can go for that much - and a hell of a lot more. In some cases, well in to the upper four figures. But, that would be for very high grade business strike examples.

  • nah - unless the colors jump off the coin they're not worth it in my opinion
  • I have a PR69DCAM that I would be willing to sell for that kind of money image

  • I may have to go into the toning business ... I can't keep a coin BU to save my life so I might as well make them colorful while they tone. image

It sold! It ended with BIN!

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • Uh... edit my reply to "Yes, and Yes".

And excuse me while I go bang my head against the wall for liquidating my toned Ike collection too fast and too cheap. image
  • Hey Frank,

See the moon money this guy wants for 61D, 62 and 62D Frankies in 66FBL? Nuts.

  • What is special about that Ike guys ? This kind of thing drives me nuts. The toning ?
The grade ? It looks pretty run down to my unpracticed eye.
In my guide book, its listed as $25.00 for PF65.
I got tubes and tubes of Ikes, almost all unc, mint or proof.
Just how does one tell if they have some bubble gum money,or a potential ticket to DisneyLand ?

Do you have any Ike dollar that looks alike Supercoin posted? In other words, do you have any PKOK Ike dollars? If yes, we could do some business.

I must say I can see the appeal of SC's Ike,and from the ones I've looked at so far,I don't have anything near
exibiting the tonal qualities of that example.
I'm certain that I have what I consider to be more appealing looking coins than what was in the ebay link
provided by the OP,but thats not saying a whole lot at this point,as my eye is not trained to properly grade
a coin - Hence my question as to how one tells, short of submitting it for grading.
I have a pretty good idea of the answer, and I suspect it will not happen over night.
As to PKOK,if you would kindly inform me as to just what that refers to,I'll let you know.

    Regards

PKOK - Peac ock ... brilliant/many colors. Bright. Flashy.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Almost.
Peacock Ikes have a signature "look" about them: GREEN with Orange rims generally, but may also have lavender/blue rims.
Your typical toned brown box Ike does not qualify.

There's a pretty good Peacock Ike Thread over on the Registry Forum if you want to type in the key word, PKOK under search. (I'll go over there now and bring it to the top.)

Lots of fun and speculation. These neat and colorful Ikes demonstrate that a bland and somewhat boring/unappealing design can take on a life of its own with the right combination of color and luster! Like the Peace dollar, these big coins are somewhat difficult to locate with attractive color and are cherished when they are found.

There is only one known 72-P PKOK and it is a type one. Based on James, it is an MS66 image

There is no limit as to how high any toned coin can go. My local dealer with many nice Morgans has a way over-priced one at the top of his display with the word "rainbow" on the 2x2. The coin is hideous and worth about 5% of his price. Some weirdo tonehead will probably buy it though, and be happy with his "steal".
