    << <i>dcarr,

Never heard of a Colorado, heard of the GS Stage 1 though.

    dragon >>

It is a real GS, but a special local edition done by Denver area Buick dealers in '68 & '69. It came with chrome "Colorado" script on the quarter panels.

    PS:
Anybody ever see "My Classic Car" with Dennis Gage (the handlebar moustace guy ) ? It runs ont he "Speed" cable network. Anyway, my '71 Sprint and '68 GS-Colorado were feature cars on two different 2002 episodes.

    Ok, one more:

Now see, I can respect the ones who put the muscle and sweat into the cars and then want to show them off.

I just find it to be very low-class to mislead people into looking at a picture of your car, just so you can hear them all say "Wow" Excuse me if my personal opinion is bad.....but cars don't impress me unless its a self-restored classic(meaning not one you bought already restored) or an exotic(Lambourgini, Ferrari, Lotus, but definately not a Mercedes)

I wasn't too thrilled to NOT find the "most stunning coin" either, but I was able to determine the thread was off topic after the very first post. If it distresses you so, to the point you have to malign another "collector" (albeit cars), why read on?

What I really wanted to say in response to the various comments you've made is:

Do you mint your own coins? Why is having, enjoying and sharing "coins" any different from ANY other thing collected? Your response is about on par with Jupiter's negative inferrence that jbsteven essentially bilked this car (indirectly) from less knowledgeable coin collectors. Oh, and even if I felt the way you do about the thread, it would truly be low class to state it as if I am being somehow deprived of something merely because of this thread.

And to the car owners; very nice looking acquisitions and/or restorations; I only wish I had the time and skill to put together a '66 Nova (Chevelle) SS. Any pics of one of those???

    DCarr,

The GS is a small block isn't it? 350? If memory serves that GORGEUOS wagon with the vista roof image is a big block monster sleeper. Very cool stuff. I used to own a GS 400 that I really miss.

    RotatedRainbows,

That's a beautiful GTO, I thought those hood tachs only came on 'The Judge' models though, I guess not.

    jb,
what i wrote earlier came off as a cheap shot. i apologize but i was taken aback by the premium you may have paid as i have no idea how many miles are on the car.
i'm sure you worked hard for it and hope that you enjoy it immensely. it is a beauty. i do like the sl's and the new body style is especially fetching.

thanks for the reply. The car has 2600 miles on it.

I will probably get the sl55 in 2-3 years with the 493 HP supercharged v-8.

This SL600 is a car I have wanted for a long time and it will be fun owning her.

Thanks, yes the GS-Colorado has a Buick 350 V8. The GS-Colorado was based upon the Buick GS-California model (sold nation-wide). It was essentially a GS package on a Special Deluxe 2-door post sedan body. The regular GS-350 and GS-400 was based upon the Skylark coupe. Every single GS-California & GS-Colorado ever made came with a 350 V8.

Yep, the wagon is a 400 Big-Block Buick with a vista dome just like the Olds Vista Cruiser.

Nope not just the Judge's, they were an option available on any GTO if you wanted to pay the extra cash.

Jeff, a Mercedes 500 something? Check out mercedesshop.com, they have a good online parts shop as well as a lively message forum. I've ordered parts through there and gotten some good help there.

Just don't post a $50K coin there -- someone might accuse you of being low-class. image

As long as you restore the coin yourself I don't think you will have a problem.

I was in a Classic car showroom in Grand Rapids, Mi yesterday and seen a 1964 BUICK SPECIAL DELUXE Station Wagon with rare factory four speed. Definitely NOT your Fathers Buick!!

Cool '64 wagon. I wonder if the 4-speed is original ? The wheels aren't, but they look good. I'd prefer the side window trim to be bright rather than painted, though. But overall, a neat vehicle.

Yes, I talked to the guy and it is a rare factory 4 on the floor car. Thing about kills you looking at it, it is such a bright shade of lip stick red (Bet it would glow in the dark).
