Mark Antony Fleet coinage help......

Most references I find are of AR denarius.
This is a bronze AE 17 X 19 mm.
Looks like a Mark Antony fleet coin, but I can't find a bronze of this.

Can't make out the legionary number

There were bronzes struck, but of this particular type?
Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

    Interesting.

    I take it that they did some underwater archaeology on some shipwrecks from the Battle of Actium, then?

    Neato. I wasn't aware of that.

    I have Sear but there are plenty here who are more handy with using it, and the references you mentioned are probably from that, anyway.

    Civitas? Aethelred?

    I might speculate that the item you have may have been a fourre. A contemporary counterfeit? The base metal would have been plated, or washed, with silver.

    As harasha said, there is a lot of precedent for this being a fouree. Unlike later contemporary counterfeits,
    it was official moneyers (from what i read) who were responsible for many of these silver-plated bronze coins in ancient times! I have one such fouree-- a bronze ( the silver plating has worn off ) fouree of an
    elephant-design julius caesar denarius.

    That was one of my guesses.
    But being unsure of all the coinage and denominations at that point with Antony, I wasn't sure.

    Alot of fourrees show in these unclean lots.
    I read various thoughts on these types. Some will claim the fourrees are unofficial and by frgers. With the exception of a few different eras that they did them officially for whatever reason.
    Others will state that they are official.
    Same type of views on the Limes denarii's.

    I cleaned a Caesar Elephant reverse also. Too bad it was broken.
