IMO it has enough marks alright, but are you serious with 64? Nothing surprises me these days. For me a 64 is supposed to be a just missed gem and that's the way I learned to grade in the cave man days. Now I see butt ugly 64's.image

You're right Stman - that's why I'm wondering if it'd make 64. I'll be sending this one to NGC along with another GSA Morgan. The last one I sent was a helluva lot more beat up than this one and got a 63 so who knows - stay tuned

Oh I have no doubt they could 64 it. I've had a couple just like it and they were 64. But come on man be serious. And some folks say the services are tight? LOL

I got a local dealer that's been in the business over 40 years and is really sharp. But he's REALLY an old time tech grader. I could walk your coin in his shop and call it 63. He'd take a quick glance and say BU. Beat up.

Edit to add... Frank I'm not trying to knock your coin as I love CC Gsa's myself..... I just get overwhelmed at the grading these days. And then when they correctly grade something people think the services are tight and a piece should upgrade. I Vay image

The fields are clean for a MS64 CC Morgan, but the larger mark on the cheek and on the right side of the eagle could hold it to MS63. With the CC grading bump I think it would go MS64 at NGC.

Here's the obv of my 1884CC. PCGS grades it MS64DMPL. I've tried twice for a 65. The 2 marks on the obv portrait are just too much I guess. The reverse is a solid 65.

    I'd say your's is most likely a 63.

    Hey Frank,

In my uneducated opinion, you will probably get a 64 @ NGC.

You want a PCGS64, you submit it; want a PCGS63, I'll submit it. image

I think there are too many hits in prime areas of the obverse. Maybe they are accentuated by the lighting and aren't as bad as in the photo, though.
