another version of the "mystery junk bag" except these are slabbed. a fool's game, IMO (except maybe for the seller?)
I'm thinking to start auctioning "mystery envelopes" that contain twenty pieces of US currency, maybe singles, maybe hundred dollar bills, how much will they bid to play the game??
I fail to see what isn't right about it...it's a pig in a poke for $10 a coin. I wouldn't touch it, but for people wanting to collect slabs as slabs, they can get 20 of them for around $10 each...not a bad idea if you care to have slabbed coins. I'll take mine uncooked any day.
I personally believe that it is not a good idea to buy something like this. Based on the idea that you don't get something for nothing.

Instead of just pasting the address to the auction in the large blank area, click on the http button (Just to the right of the B, I, U and post in thread buttons) then paste the address in the box on the window that pops up. Then in the next window that pops up you can type your own title to the link.

I think this sort of auction is just plain disgusting!!! I have looked(never bought) at this persons listings before, but I will not look at them in the future!
I don't know what my opinion is on this one. The guy has some incredible feedback! Submission prices alone show SOME modicum of the value you might expect. However, is this what he's banking on?
And how many of his happy customers have no clue?
Tough one to call. Who wants to pool some funds just to see?

I don't see a problem with this auction, he's not doing anything deceptive. I personally wouldn't bid on it, but if others want to, there's nothing wrong.

Why? They started the auction at $2.99. The bidders are deciding the value. There's nothing wrong at all with this. I'm not a big fan of this seller, but they tossed it out there dirt cheap and let the market take it from there.
This is a special curious mystery deal. You are bidding on a black NGC box full of twenty certified coins. Some of them are silver, some of them are Mint State, and all are NGC graded. We will not reveal more than that because this is a MYSTERY LOT. There is certainly guaranteed to be at least one or two surprises above and beyond what this box appears to be. Winning bidder will receive at least 20 NGC slabbed coins and the black box and some other rare mystery items. What, pray tell, is this box worth? Therein lies the mystery. What is the box really worth? What are you willing to pay to find out? We won't give any hints on the phone so please do not try and get it out of us. So dream away of a box full of rare $20 gold pieces that you could buy for fractions of pennies on the dollar. However, that would be just a dream. This entire box of 20 NGC mystery coins plus a surprise or two is going with no reserve to the highest bidder. Because this is a mystery lot, there are no returns available
What bothers me about this is -It is a box of non-specific NGC items. They are Mysterious and some are RARE........Is this the actual box or will it be created after it has ended. The line about $20 gold pieces just fuels the flames. If there are no gold pieces why mention them? It reminds me of that Las Vegas Vacation movie- Chevy Chase walks up to the table puts the money down and tries to "Guess" the number the dealer is thinking of....
These Blue Moon mystery auctions are so ridiculous. I'm sure they're really going to seed these lots with real treasures.
But they do have plenty of satisfied customers, so who knows?
Either way, shouldn't the Blue Moon guy have that book memorized by now? Is it the same book, and why is he so interested in it? Does he know something we don't?
