Yes, I believe it can be. The person who left you a neg has to neg the correct person then file a report with Ebay letting them know he goofed up. I think that's how it's done. Go to the Ebay help site and lookup feedbacks. Tom
The buyer admitted he made a mistake...will eBay remove it since it's obviously a mistake? Or at least take the "1" off your report card? What have they (eBay) said? Have you asked the question?
I hope they remove it, but if not, hopefully people will see whats going on. Good luck.
<<Negative feedback intended for another member will be considered for removal only in situations where the member responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct member. This does not apply to a comment that was mistakenly marked negative instead of positive or vice versa. >>
ebays bylaws say you leave feedback, it is there forever.
Not so. I left a neutral once and the bone head got so pissed he threatened to sue. He went to fair trade. I let it drop and it is gone. Since when is a neutral a negative?? The jerk would not even return emails....
You can get it erased, but you'll have to go through the arbitration process with ebay (squaretrade) and both sides have to agree, and it will cost you $$$$$$.
H E Y LOOK DOWN HERE! I just went thru something just like this! The guy openly admits that he left a negative for the wrong person! You know that Square Trade emblem most of us sellers sport? That's who you contact! It's mediation sevices...although in all actuality there is nothing to mediate. What has to happen is the both of you contact Square Trade and see about getting it removed (for $20-no less)...yet another way for ebay to make money...shop around in site map and services and you'll find the right channel, however if you do not want this to turn into an all day adventure I suggest you employ live chat services on the home page. Have the item # handy along with your user ID ,the other party's ID -date of transaction and date feedback was left Give the "agent " as much to work with as possible!. They will point you in the right direction! GOOD LUCK!!
Since he admitted in his followup that he made the mistake, I'm sure he would be willing to send an email to EBay and ask them to correct it. Mistakes are made, at least this guy has the balls to stand up and say "I screwed up"
Send him an email and ask him if he would help you out with getting it removed. I'd be willing to bet he would.
E-bay really should remove it as the feedback was not even intended for you, if every thing else fails maybe mention to them that it could be considered Libel and you will go after them for the loss of bussiness this non-intended feedback is costing you. I know it's a long shot but one never knows.
I don't know, I would keep it if I were in your shoes. You're not a huge trader on Ebay - which is generally a plus to buyers I think. At 400+ feedbacks, it's manageable for me to read through them and find the neg. When I found the neg and realized it was left in error, it would only make the rest of your feedback look that much better.
I think it would also suggest to me that you're not "anal" about your feedback and more concerned with providing good quality material.
Good advice from everyone. I will let you all know how it turns out.
Baccaruda, I guess I didn't really think of it from that angle, but when I first saw it I was HOT. Now that the initial shock is over I guess it really isn't that big of a deal.
I will just see what happens. BTW I still haven't got his money from that auction.
I got my 1 neg. from a person who cashed my check and never sent the coin. I negged back. Soon afterward that person was banned from ebay. My question is, how can my 1 neg stay if the person who gave it was a fraud? Actually with over 500 positives, my 1 neg doesn't bother me too much !
This is but another way for ebay to make money-plain and simple!I've see one guy that has like 50 negaives in the past 6 months-8 in a week yet he stays in busines and moves a lot of coins. Why doesn't ebay do anyting? All those listings and sales equal fees, fees ,fees! He should have gotten booted a long time ago! I gave him a trial run on an item valued at less than $20 . He gave me a positive for fast payment and the coin never came. I stayed on his behind until he refunded me but he swore he shipped it and asked me to let him know if I got it. HE NEVER SHIPPED IT because no sooner than he refunded me ,he listed the same coin again and did the same thing to the next customer except he didn't get refunded. You see, I didn't slap a negative on him. You catch more bees with sugar than you do with vinegar! The next guy went off on him and posted a negative. The guy's gig is simple...he state's it in his item description,"Not responsible for lost or stolen goods if you fail to insure your item" If you don't insure...he doesn't ship and pockets the money and you get what the cat covers!Don't believe it....? Search ryandavidcoins...I rest my case! ONE MORE THING..while I'm naming Names-finalfrontier6 was a store featured in ebay's Gallery. One of my very firsy purchases was for a 1000 coin lot of pristeen coin. I was to receive exactly what was pictured. They deposited my check which cleared 8-20-03 for $360+ and that very same day ebay gave them the boot!I followed protocol to the "T"-even filing a complaint with the FBI Internet Fraud Division and to this day -all I have to show for this is a canceled check marked for deposit only! Not one law enforcement agency contacted me even after writing the IFCC EVERY NIGHT-all I have to show for these exemplary sellers is a canceled check! Even filed for Mail Fraud ! That's as useless as teets on a boar hog! Find people you know and stick with them! Word of wisdom from a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks!
Since it was an error, if you and the buyer both eMail eBay with the item number, they should remove it - Once I had a neg, but stayed on top of it - didn't come easy, but it did eventually get removed. (This was a few years ago, maybe the rules have changed since then?) -----Just stay on it and don't let up.

my hotels
he wouldn't respond to email, and wouldn't pay for em.
so i neg'ed him .....5 times!
he retalliated with 5 negs for me!
he's now ........"not a registered user" .........that sucks!
i think that if someone negs you and then leaves ebay in the same week...the negs should leave with him.
because some troll could have multiple id's and ruin your name by bidding , not paying....... then neg-ing you.
to them its all a joke anyway.
