bin prices

I have noticest the bin price is ALL MOST alway 20% plus over what the coin is really worth. what are your thought on this? (my thought) if people will pay this I guess it ok, but the seller should eat the s/h when selling so much over graysheet prices. I know I making myself a target for the seller.

I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

It would only be logical for the BIN to be the "wishful" price of the seller. The auction is there to figure out the right price. If the auction starts at $0.01 with no reserve, then the market sets the price.Of course every seller would like to get the most for every item. There are some items that the buyer "must" buy, then the buyer has the option of using the BIN price. The BIN price is really good for some folks when the seller does not know that the coin is more valuable then the BIN price.

Sometimes there are real bargains among BINS. I treat it on a case by case basis.

I have gotten some real bargains on e-Bay through BIN. One example is a beautiful PCGS MS65 Gettysburg for $299.00. image

I dont sell regularly, but when I do, I have found that if the Buy it now price is set with some thought , it can be a good tool if you want to move an item a little faster. The trick is settin the amount right thats fair for both the buyer and the seller. To make it a quick but decent amount for the seller, without losing much by lettin it run, but also in turn for the buyer, giving him the opportunity to go ahead and get it with out possibly losing it in the end or paying substantially more.

Some coins I have set what I thought was a fair BIN, only to have no intrest. Example the 1877 PCGS-50 I had listed, set it a little high, but realative to what one just sold for on E-bay two weeks ago. (This coin was as nice if not nicer than the previus two that sold in that price range).

Then I had others that didnt last a few hours at a BIN price.
When I sold the 1856 FE PCGS Vf-25, after relisting because someone wanted me to stop the auction, it lasted all of a few hours.
I had an 1904-s half in PCGS-45 priced with a BIN at 3x sheet, gone in 1 hour.

My thoughts. If you think it is too high, don't buy it.

I agree totally! Sometimes I can't hit the BIN buttn fast enough. Other times, I can't hit the BACK key fast enough. It is truly a case by case basis.

My best BIN value in the past few months was a 1987 $5 GAE PCGS MS69 for $60.
PCGS Currency: HOF 2013, Best Low Ball Set 2009-2014, 2016, 2018. Appreciation Award 2015, Best Showcase 2018, Numerous others.

I agree with Wingedliberty. You don't see most of the bargin BIN's as they are snapped up quickley. My best recent acquisition a 1921-s Buffalo NGC AU50 for $875 opening bid & BIN.

I use BIN when both selling and buying.

The BIN that is put on a coin when selling is usually what I think the coin is worth because of color, strike or something else that pertains to the date. I actually believe some people have got some real nice coins because of the BIN's that they have used.

When buying I am just like anyone else. It is used when a real deal is found. Sometimes the real deal does not work out very well though. Oh well.
