A non-small cent post - start of an "Eagle" type set.

Decided to start a Eagle design type set. It was in part inspired by looking at Boiler78 and Kays patterns at the ANA this summer, in part since I'm nearly done with my small cent goals.

Scott at Pinnacle showed me this Conn. Commem. (PCGS MS66) with it's modern Eagle rendition at the Santa Clara show. It's the first coin in my new type set (well, besides the FE cents I have already)image

    Both sides of the CT commem are cool. Didn't the same guy do another eagle on a different commem?

    Mdwoods:

    That's why I'm excited again about collecting - I haven't a clue! Looking forward to learning about coins other than small cents.

    Lakesammman - It's time to go after those Gobrecht dollars - They've got awesome Eagles! image They'll even look familiar - the pattern for the 1856 FE Cent - Also, they're large enough that you won't need your Zeiss lens to look at them as you get older image
    Collecting eye-appealing Proof and MS Indian Head Cents, 1858 Flying Eagle and IHC patterns and beautiful toned coins.

    I would also recommend looking into the following eagles;

    Stone Mountain reverse
    Texas obverse
    Lincoln-Illinois reverse
    Bridgeport reverse
    Alabama reverse

    Most of the German patterns by Karl Goetz have Exceptional eagles on the reverses

    Obviously the Saint Gaudens' $10 + $20 gold are VERY nice, as well as the Pratt $2.5 + $5 gold reverses.

    Just a few to consider.

    That's a beautiful Connecticut commem and a great idea for a type set. As you can see I've thought about that myself. These are mostly Heritage images that I carved the eagles from.
