Slabs and low temperature

Now that it's getting cold out, I'm wondering about slab storage. I have a bunch of slabs in a room that gets pretty cold, like 50 degrees or even less. Is this a problem? What is the proper temperature range for storage of coins in general?

i think that it is more of a humidity issue than a temp issue.

I don't think you need to worry about it unless you're talkin' about subzero temps.

Is it an unheated room with big temp. fluctuations, or a basement where it just gets colder than the rest of the house? If an unheated room, my biggest concern would be condensation forming on and in the slab as the temps drop in the morning and the air can't hold as much moisture, similar to dew/frost forming on a car parked outside.

It isn't so much a matter of temperature as it is CHANGING temperature. If the temperature keeps rising and falling you risk condensation. ANd if the slab seam isn't sealed water tight it can then draw the condensate into the slab.

Barry and Conder are correct, the damage would occur from fluctuating temperature changes, as the temp changes up and down it will possibly create condensation on the inside of the slabs. If its cool with some moisture in the air, it will be even worse.
