ANACS Grade Guarentee

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Morgan Dollar that was graded by ANACS. When I received the coin in person I felt that it might be overgraded. I have since sent the coin to both PCGS and NGC and at both services it DNC. I spoke with an NGC rep who told me that the reason that it did not meet the grade requirement was because of wear. My question is has anyone used the ANACS grade protection guarentee? If so how was the experience? The price difference in the current grade and nexct lower grade is almost $2,000. If ANACS agrees that the coin is overgraded what can U expect in compensation. Any help that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again, Mike

I don't think you are going to get far with that scenario.

The grade assigned by ANACS is "their opinion".

They couldn't care less what PCGS/NGC says. Maybe PCGS/NGC are incorrect?

I don't know off hand, but you can contact them... they're a friendly company. Personally, I'd call them at 1-800-888-1861.

if you are talking MS62 to AU58 maybe

give more specifics - grade/coin

I bought a coin in a auction with no return graded by anacs. When I got it I thought it looked cleaned.
I sent it to ngc for crossover and it came back as cleaned. I sent it to pcgs with some other coins and pcgs rejected it as cleaned.
I sent it to anacs for grade guarantee review and they sent it back same grade-problem free.
This was about 18 months ago things might have changed. Goodluck.

The coin in question is an 1893-S Morgan graded EF-40. I believe it is really an VF-35. The price difference between the two grades is substantial. I truly feel that, when compared to other ANACS Morgans that I have, that it is overgraded. I am a little concerned since no one has posted a sucess story yet. Again thanks everyone.

i don't think the price difference between those 2 grades is really that substantial - your talking about a pretty serious key date. the "DNC" you mentioned don't mean diddly. that's a fact that's been proved many times on this, the pcgs forum. digi-pics???

ANACS is a super company.

Here is a scenario for you to consider.

You buy an XYZ graded coin and then try to send it to PCGS or NGC or even ANACS to cross. All three companies DNC it. Do you think XYC will give you compensation because someone else does not agree with their opinion? No.

However, if you send it to XYZ for regrade and it comes back lower, then maybe you will see compensation.

But, as previously stated, iot is "their opinion" as stated on their website.

Just my opinion.

ANACS will have to look at the coin and if they think THEIR grade on the slab is too high they should compensate you.
