  I believe it is a lamination or an unbonded clad layer error...but don't quote me. I think it is like a hinged, clamlike error...like how a clam is hinged.

  Are coins the only collectible or product where a manufacturing defect makes it more valuable? I mean I've got a few blank planchettes, clips, etc. I've picked up over the years but I don't care about any of it..

  That's cute, take a neat appearing error that is desirable because of the way it looks, and put it in a slab so that the error is no longer visible.

  But whyinhell would you put it in a slab where you couldn't see the edge? Geez, you could at least go with PCGS ... or SEGS ... or ACG, for a clear holder.
