Looks genuine to me also, this is the same guy thats got the 1893-s $ Raw for sale.

My comment about me feeling that the coin is genuine is not suggesting that you bid or buy, as many said, I would never touch buying a 16-d raw from E-bay period. And don't recommend it either. But I do think the coin is genuine based on the best I can tell from the photo!

Looks like die 4. But keep in mind the 1916-D is the second most counterfieted coin there is. I would be leary of purchasing a raw coin without a full gaurentee of authenticity and a refund if the coin does not certify!

Like the others said, I wouldn't buy ANY 16-D raw. Also, never trust anyone on ebay with less than a 99% feedback rating, especially this guy. Read some of the descriptions in his other auctions. Shady guy.

Yes Mikey,
NCS will do such a thing and won't give you a crappy "net" grade like ANACS does.

NCS has COOL holders too. I wish NGC would use them.

I sent the seller this email:

I don't waste my time or money with third party graders, if possible. Too
much "politics". As stated, I will fully guarantee this coin's
authenticity. This coin should receive a substantial final bid regardless,
as most coin experts viewing will be confident of it's authenticity by the

My AG 1916-D is sufficient for me. I was just browsing key dates on eBay, as I often do. That dime looked like one we had a thread about a few months ago.

His response to Barry's email says it all. Stay away from it like the plague.
Even if its genuine, I would not buy from a seller who thinks that third party certification is a waste.
This is a major red flag to me as is any raw 16D.

His comment about most coin "experts" is a subtle dare. He wants you to be afraid NOT to bid (i.e. if you don't, then you're not a coin expert).
