Take a look at this auction! The last bidder, with 1 feedback, actually has 16, and they are all from this seller! Shill bidder?...

Interesting, he only bids on coins with starting bids of $1. Only recorded wins are with this seller, and has been doing this for a couple of years. Last feedback left to the seller was in '01.
The only way to see for sure is to watch a auction he won and see if the seller resells the same coin in the future.

In this case I seriously doubt it's a shill. Parke is a great, and very honest, guy who really doesn't need the money. He's also the #2 all time finest proof Kennedy set.

It's probably legit.

I have a freind that has bidded on quite a few of my auctions on e-bay. Not the more expensive items, but the 200.00 and under stuff.
If you were to pull up my previous auctions, you will always see where he has bidded on several of my items, some he wins , sometimes he doesnt.

Thing thats intresting about this is, when I pick up something in his price range, I usually show him the coin in person in case he wants it, usually he'll pass, then a few days into an auction he bids on it. and ends up paying more than had he just bought it outright.

He just did this on a 1914-d Lincoln.

Most of the big sellers on ebay must have an extensive shill network or some kind of gimmick. Look at someone like "SCARDINAL" and all of the obviously overgraded sh*t they sell-and yet, their feedback is 99.8%??? Something's wrong here.

Yeah, I bought one of their raw, "obviously overgraded sh*t" coins. It went to NGC and came back a full grade higher than their auction description. Made for a very profitable transaction.

You keep passing on their auction though.

I have seen this sort of bidding behavior legitimately. Example: dealer has a storefront, and also lists on eBay. Regular customer stops in, sees coin in display. Wants to buy it, but dealer informs him that it's on eBay right now, so he can't -- but he can bid if he likes. The regular customer doesn't normally bid on eBay, nor does he trust online merchants, but he doesn't have a problem bidding on his Friendly Neighborhood Dealer's auctions, since he has seen the coin in person, can pay cash in person, and take immediate possession of the coin. Ergo, you get a bidder like this with feedback like that.
