Grades in!
Well, I sent some test coins to one of the grading services that we love to hate (not PCGS, NGC or ANACS), and they didn't do very well. I'm going to give the results in somewhat of a masked fashion to avoid some of the threats I received from another bottom feeder service when I did the same thing to them. Some of these results are ficticious but you'll know which ones aren't.
Anyone who wants to know which service I used is welcome to PM me, I will respond at my discretion
Line 1
MS-62: This was a real 62 that I sent in as a diversion. I actually agree with the grade of this one.
Line 2
AU-58 OK
Line 3
Altered date: They caught this one and they should have. Such a poor job of alteration that it looks like a preschooler did it. Way to go!
Line 4
EF-45: Technically it is EF but it has been horribly cleaned. Would never have graded at a reputable service.
Line 5
EF-40
This is an exceptionally rare coin for which there are two known. The last real EF that sold went for $20,000 . The date has been altered and poorly done at that. Can tell from an arm's length away. Oops!
Line 6
EF-45
Same date as the rare coin in Line 5. Well how about that, there were supposedly only two known and I have them both. Not! Altered date went undetected again.
Line 7
VG-10 OK
Line 8
MS-60 OK
Line 9
XF-45 OK

Is this something I could make a quick $100 off of?

Tom, that's a question I can't answer for security reasons. I will say this however, the series from which these came are in the Red Book but there's not even a line for this particular date.
