Is this Half "Original"

ARCOARCO Posts: 4,462 ✭✭✭✭✭
I wonder what a cleaned coin would look like? Don't blaring, deeply gouged hairlines mean the coin was cleaned? Doesn't a chrome bumper shine indicate someone might have taken dad's belt sander to the coin?

Hmmmmm...Dealers are the pro's, if they say the coin is original, it must be!

In this case original means it's not a carbon copy.

I think these guys should work on their photo skills and tilt that coin and boom all those directional hairlines are gone and make the scam worth the hassle

I don't know. I looks a bit like an MS coin that was just lost in a load of gravel for a few days.

Now this one looks like a cast fake, but I'm sure no expert here.

"polished" is even worse than "cleaned", especially on a Fine or VF piece, and especially on a coin with ticks and nicks like the one shown. Net grade is Good, maybe Very Good if you want a pocket piece. Misrepresentation by the seller, but at least it isn't started at the price the detail would otherwise warrant.

Wow. That's disgusting. I'm sure it looks better in person though. image

If by "original," the seller means "dinged up and polished," then yes, the coin is very original.

Bwahahahahaha!!!! I bet his phone isn't ringing off the hook.

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
