2 Cents Question... Error?

Isn't this coin supposed to be round. Is this some type of error or was it done post-mint? Thanks!

I'd say that was an error, all right. A big error, to do that!

(But I suppose it was only two cents to the person who did it.)

Have you ever seen rings made from WL halves? I've never learned the whole process, but it involves stirking the rims and squishing it inward. Not sure how they make the hole, but on the finished product you can sometimes see part of the WL design.

He's right- I have seen the same thing done with silver Washingtons- apparently GI's would do this, during WW2- tap the rims, flattening them out, and eventually make a ring out of the coin, somehow. On the finished product, you could still see traces of the design (on the inside of the ring). Not sure if that was the intention here with the 2c piece, but it certainly looks like the early stages of somebody making a coin ring.
