red quarter?

i know this is tone but why is my CLAD a redish rust color. i thought they only turned tint gold. its only a 2000 virginia quarter and it looks AU+ before the tint. i thnk also this tint makes the quarter ugly as all hell. why is my quarter this way. and is it the natural event when state quarters tone?

Could be missing the clad layer. They are worth a fair amount if it is.

hey placid that south carolina coin matches my coin on the washington head side. also i have it on the virginia boat side as well . what is the deal.

If they are as struck (not done post mint) they are mint errors. Some people collect them.
