It is a good thing they are firm, but I can understand your pain!

I'm still trying to figure out the difference between a presidential review and the regular regrade service. David Hall has stated that he will not override the decision of the graders, so what's the point? What am I missing?

Are you saying PCGS only had your coins for one day? I guess super fast turn around can be a bad sign.

Differences are it costs less, and you are supposed to get a note saying why the coin dosen't deserve to be graded higher.

I had a presidential review on 4 coins. While none upgraded, I received a copy of

HRH's notes, which I found most enlightning and accurate. I learned a heck of a lot

from those notes and consider them worth the money spent.

  • I used to spend a lot of money trying to make Morgan Dollars go in a PCGS holder at the grade I thought they were supposed to be. Now I just buy them in the PCGS holder and save a lot of time and money. Strangely enough, I have never had a problem with gold coins. I can get them crossed from NGC any time if I inspect them carefully for hairlines. PCGS hates hairlines. I dont know what the problem is with PCGS and Morgan Dollars. I think they have thrown the eye appeal part of grading out of the equation. Who knows. I dont know anything about any other series and PCGS grading however.

It's my understanding that the pres. review entails D. Hall examining your coins in the holder, if he thinks they are strong upgrade candidates he then shows them to someone else for an opinion and then if at least two graders feel they should upgrade, then they do. But D. Hall himself cannot just have them upgraded by himself.

The standard regrade service is where PCGS cracks the coin out and it goes through normal grading as a raw coin again.

isn't the presidential review what got some people banned?

  • DANG! I thought that meant they went to the White House for George II to look at!
