US MINT ISSUE

Hi all, last year I purchased some 2002 US MINT sets. I had never opened them until tonight. Well, to my surprise, one of the mint sets were missing the sac, half, dime, nickel and cent, the state quarters were there. I guess this is a lesson learned. Had I opened the set within 30 days, I could have returned it to the mint. I just ordered my 2003 mint sets....I will not make the same mistake twice. Actually, I am going to call the mint's customer service tomorrow and see what can be done, but I doubt I'll have any luck.

I do believe one of the sets has a dime with a die crack on the obverse, about 3 o'clock position.

Has anyone ever had luck with the mint in a similar experience? I realize I'm only out very little money....it's the principle :-).

Wow, that stinks. Never had that happen to me. I really don't know what the mint would do about it this late in the game.

I have heard of missing coins but not your situation where packages weren't opened for a year.

I can think of a dozen reasons not to have high capacity magazines, but it's the reasons I haven't thought about that I need them.

If I buy a unopened mint set on ebay and there are no coins in it should I ask for a refund? image

I don't mean to insult you, but, are you talking mint set or proof set?

If proof set, are you sure you didn't order OR that the USMint didn't inadvertantly ship the Quarter Proof set instead of the complete proof set?

If mint set, which coins are missing; P or D?

You're probably s.o.l., but who knows? They might do something for you in the name of customer relations.

As I thought, becasue more than 30 days had lapsed, the mint stated they could do nothing....my loss....lesson learned.

So, I'd like to give the set, albeit incomplete, to a YN. The first YN to PM me his/her address will receive them free. Hopefully, there is some YN would will enjoy them.

I thought I have seen such sets on ebay selling as error sets asking for a lot of bogus money.

A YN has PM'd address.....this UNCIRC set will be mailed to them for their enjoyment. Again...in the future, I shall inspect all packages. It's just that I like to leave mint products in original packaging...
