First one of these I've seen. Must be a really old holder but more attractive than the current. Something about the red ink on the new ones that shouts "warning". Probably too expensive to continue the large holder and photo here.

Don't knock the early ACG slabs! There is some rarity to those slabs in themselves. Do take a chance on this one!

In fact, I am sure that even the grading services including PCGS would even admit they were an almost decent grading outfit back in those days!

Yea, I've also heard that ACG was pretty decent in their infancy.

Even if they were decent way back when, one wonders why the seller doesn't get it into a mainstream holder. If I was going to sell any ACG slabbed coin with a value of more than $100, I'd get it crossed first.

Can't tell for sure which ACG variety it is without seeing the back but it is a very early one (1984 - 85). It is either ACG 1, 3, 4.1, or 4.2 (Those last two are not in the first edition.) None of these are easy to find. Number 3 is probably the easiest, I've seen a dozen or so of it, about five ACG 1's, and a single example each of 4.1 and 4.2 The dark background color behind the coin (especially if it is blue) makes me think this is probably an ACG 1.

i would be cautious on this one due to the designation at the bottom of the insert which reads A3-63c and alludes to the fact that the coin has been cleaned. that's probably why there is no reverse image since the coding is on the reverse of the photograph to the right of the coin. a quick look at condor's book shows A3 to be Full strike, Cleaned or Hairlined.
