Kinda coincidence that Paypal sold out to eBay JUST before the USPS thing.

Just wondering if you are a "member" ?? if you are, do you pay 5.95 per month, or the "pay as you go" ?

I think it would be great to purchase postal money orders online, but it doesnt say anywhere that you can. Does anyone subscribe to this? the usps website isnt very informative as to what you can and cannot do.

My understanding is that the money order can't be done online but payment can.

IF they go to money order charged to a VISA, they will EAT paypal.

Even if cost was more.

My choice is pay per each as I don''t do much volume.

My credit card company just started something new - you log into their web-site, type in a transaction that you are about to do, and they give you a "virtual" CC number. You use this number for the transaction - and they honor it. If anyone tries to use that number again, it won't work. Nobody ever really gets your real CC number (online anyways). Not that this is a payment system like USPS or Paypal, but it sounds like they are going in a safer direction. Any thoughts?

I'm not so sure that I want to have a government agency watching my money transactions. The postal service can't even run themselves
right let alone put their fingers into other people's bank accounts. No way.

There are so many thieves working within the USPS it's unreal & I would never give them my bank info. I wonder how long it will be before
they offer insurance (for extra $$$ of course) to protect against your accounts being drained.

And before anyone says they are not part of the federal government anymore, just look at the license plate on the back of any USPS vehicle.

Looks interesting, and will probably be a good thing.
I don't have any vendetta against Paypal, and to be quite honest have NEVER had a glitch with them.

As far as thieves.......they're everywhere, and to single out the Postal service as a haven for them, is outright silly.

I have found the exact opposite to be true within my local post office. They are exceptional in the handling of all my dealings, and I'm there AT LEAST 3x a week.

I use the Vitual Account Number system all the time. I think it's great...It gives you a phony (not your real) number, ccv number, and expiration date for that transaction only. When you use it, it generates the numbers in a pop-up screen which allows you to drag and drop the info into the requesting fields. Simple....

Anyone who thinks Paypal or ebay keeps information from government hands, I have a bridge for sale.

The USPS is the source of the EASIEST way to launder money there is. (other than barter for gold)

You can't get a $1000 bill at your bank...........but you sure can get a blank $1000 money order at your post office.

I think it's hilarious. The gummint who is so against unrecorded cash transactions SUPPLIES the easiest way to do it.

But.........if ANYTHING will damage paypal, I'm for it.

One thing I would really like to know. WHEN did such a rush to get coins start?

I trade hundreds of thousands of dollars of gold bullion with a phone call.

Of course, we KNOW each other. But I still can't see the life-threatening URGENCY that some stupid buyers get when they buy a coin. If I don't ship it, they have me for mail fraud.

Yet they will NOT pre-register or open an account to get approved for immediate ship.

I have been trying to downgrade my paypal account for almost a week now. I finally got a response and they gave me a long distance phone number to call. What a joke. With a click of a button you can upgrade your account.

Outside of the IRS, the USPS is unequivocally the most efficiently run branch of government. As taxpayers, we could only wish the rest of the bureaucracy were run as well.

I'm not so sure about that- My biggest problem with the post office is that they offer you insurance or registered service for an extra
charge (substantial in some cases) to protect your shipped item from.............THEM!

Well in my eyes, if they have to go through all the extra effort, (in forms, computers, specialized handling, and charging extra fees), just to offer you extra protection in the form of insurance, then they must have a substantial internal theft problem.

I will agree that the P.O. is probably the finest run organization in the country. I've employed them for thousands and thousands of deliveries and not a single error yet, to my knowledge. I can't say "efficient" though, seeing that the price of a postage stamp during my lifetime has increased 500%

In my lifetime Federal Piggy's cut of income has gone from an average of 3% to an average of over 20%. The difference is that the only people paying the post office rates are those voluntarily using the service, rather than being extorted by a giant redistribution system.

"They", meaning the PO doesn't have, or require you to fill out forms for anything. If you CHOOSE to insure your package, then yes, you must fill out a form.
The protection is from a bunch of different things, including theft by a postal employee, although I have serious doubts that postal employees make up the bulk of crimes that occur with items shipped via the USPS.
I'm not sure if I've ever met anyone that feels the same way you do towards postal employees, and your inclination to believe they are a group of common thieves.
I have to say, I totally disagree with you.

I downgraded my PayPal account from a Premier Account to a personal acount with one phone call. The employee was quite nice and understood that I am not a businessman,just an individual trying to make a few dollars on ebay and that all the ebay fees and paypal fees are eating me alive. All you need to do is call 1-800-836-1859 and speak to a real person trying to make a living too!
