Ok, here's the thing. Say, within your favorite Series, there is a price breakdown as follows: MS65: $500.00. MS66: $1,500.00. Now, hang in there with me, I think this might get good... You have a choice of two coins with this history: (sorry, both are sight UNseen):
-The first coin has been in a PCGS MS65 holder four times but upon its fifth attempt garnishes the coveted MS66. Call it an "MS65.7" on most days.
--The second coin has been in an MS66 holder twice and after being submitted (recklessly!) a third time is now in a MS65 holder. Call it too an "MS65.7" on most days. The coins are both blast white and look pretty close (described to you over the phone by a trusted Dealer who is also disclosing the honest history of both).
-Coin one is $1000.00- a discount of $500.00 over other MS66's, or a 100% markup from an MS65.
--Coin two is $750.00- a 50% markup from MS65 but half what an MS66 sells for.
Which of the two would you purchase if you were definitely in the market to buy at least one of them?

<< <i>I'd take both...Is this an algebraic expreession?
I agree, buy both, then keep the one you like the most when you get them.
I'd buy JANE...YOWZA!...

Now, stay with me on this one, if they were on very fast moving trains headed away from each other at relativistic speeds, would grade contraction make one better than the other or would one of them last longer for more overall enjoyment?
As much as I love you (in fact I don't even know you), I think these kinds of questions are really assinine.
The notion that any coin is 'between grades' is absurd given that there are 11 mint state grades. Submit the thing enough times and you'll get a wide disparity of grades that will either justify or totally refute any grade you want.
The PCGS grade is (for the umpteenth time) an opinion that may very well differ tomorrow when the coin is resumitted. Anyone who pays a huge price premium for one grading point as though it actually means something is either totally misguided or just doesn't get it.
I apologize if this is a bit direct, as I am bombed at the moment.

At first I would have bought the 65 since it's PQ, but after reading tradedollarnut's response, I'm with him.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
