If I remember correctly, not too long ago, here at the forum, there was rhetoric about weather or not PCGS slabs were air-tite along with their competitors. I guess this will answer sooooooo many questions...
I have viewed numerous gold coins in MS65 (and higher) holders, which displayed copper spots or stains.
The sky is not falling just yet, gentlemen.
Whew! Thanks coinguy! Now I can stop gazing a the farkin' sky all day & night. My neck was beginning to torture me...
The 57-s hoard $20's have tremendous luster on them and most of us would take a few scuffs rather than get dullish luster with a clean look. Even curated, the CA hoard coins are just amazing looking coins. And I don't own one either.

Even the 1875-S Liberty I showed earlier had a coppery area on the rim at 3 o clock but it hasn't changed one bit in the 8 years I have observed the coin.
