calgolddivercalgolddiver Posts: 1,774 ✭✭✭✭✭
I question it's authenticity since it asks to execute the attachment. Given the volume of spam reported here I figure someone knows (although it states from paypal.com ... donotreply@paypal.com) :

thanks

Too bad you can't send a reply with a virus attached.

I used to get these a lot. I always told them off if I could by entering in f words.

    Do not reply.

This is a scam always always.

What really made me laugh about this one is how all my non-PayPal emails got on their list but the two that I have accounts under didn't.

I recieved an email similar to this about a credit card I have. I thought it was bogus. Instead of calling the number on the email, I called the number on the back of my card. I was right. The email was most bogus.

I got the same email from PayPal about 3 times one day. I replied to all of them using a tirade of expletives that would make a sailor blush. Maybe that's why it got sent 2 more times ?

PS:No offense intended towards any sailors who happen to post here, just using an old, old, old expression.

I just get the Microsoft update virus, disguised as a web update. I have been getting between 1 on 20 of them every day for the last 6 weeks.

I have received 5 spook emails asking for my Paypal & personal information this week.
Also received one requesting my Ebay information.

Man I pity the people that really believe them and send the information.
    Its getting awful.

The application probably isn't a virus but rather spyware designed to moniter surfing, passwords credit card numbers etc and then report them back to the scammer on its own.

It's bogus. You'll also see these from "ebay" from time to time. It's clever scammers trying to get your personal info so they can hack your accounts. Paypal and/or ebay will never send out emails, to my knowledge, asking for personal info or updates.
