2003 Proof Silver Eagles - Sold Out at the Mint

The 2003 Proof Silver Eagles sold out this afternoon at the U.S. Mint. With 750,000 minted, this is the earliest this coin has sold out since year 2000.

    Are you sure about that?

I thought the 2002's sold out in the summer.

100% positive. Check out the U.S. Mint Website. CoinWorld reported a few days ago that they were 98% sold out which probably prompted a quick sell out of the remaining 2%. In 2001 and 2002, proof silver eagles were available well into the next calendar year. In 2000, they sold out before Christmas which is unusual.

The US Mint Kiosk in Union Station, Washington DC still has plenty of them. I just got back a few hours ago. I picked up a handfull of the 2003 SAE Proofs.

You are lucky. I checked Ebay and most 2003 Proof SAEs are already announcing that these are sold out. That's why I ran up to DC after work and got a few more while they still had them.

The SAE is without a doubt my my favorite coin. I finally completed the whole proff set this past summer. I'm still debating whether to get them slabbed or not.
