I hope he is a forum memmber so he know I think that isn't right. with all this BS going on he post a nice Positive feed back. I feel bad posting a Negative because he don't have any Negative feed back. honest misstake or not he sold my coin and I'm mad.

Not being in the business of selling coins myself, I don't know if that is an easy thing to excuse or not. But from where I stand, if someone puts something on EBAY for auction, they dam well better take it out of their for sale stock. That's just not acceptable.

I think it is correct to neg in that situation.

The guy has perfect feedback. I'd say he made an honest mistake. As long as he refunds the money in full he shouldn't get neg'd. It's disappointing
not to get a coin you want, I agree with that. But he doesn't deserves a neg. I wouldn't even give him a nuetral myself. These things do happen.

If I were the seller (which could not happen because I actually hold the coin and look at it while I write the auction and then put it aside in my "for sale on eBay" pile), I would let you cherry pick a coin of approximately the same value or I would add your want to my list to buy and purchase it at the next show I attended.

If he makes good with you before the feedback duration expires then don't neg him. However, if nothing changes based upon your description and he does not make good with you, then I would at least leave him a neutral.

So what did you win and how much did you pay? If you bought a raw coin, you might be lucky (unless you feel you got a super buy). Most of his raw stuff looks overgraded by a few points.

I say go ahead and leave the negative feedback, but only if you have never made a mistake. image

I had it happen one time. It was very embarrassing and something that shouldn't have happened, but did. I placed the item on Ebay, sit it aside on my desk and the guy who helped me do a show packed the coin and it sold at the show. Everybody makes a mistake now and then. With the minor amount of money involved, I seriously doubt the guy would risk a negative for it. I know if it were my coin, I'd be glad to get $15. over grey sheet ask for the coin.

I sold a coin a few days ago and cannot find it. I believe it has been misplaced or stolen. I told the buyer I was truly sorry so he picked another coin I had and shipped that one out to him. Mistakes happen, we are all human.

From a SELLER's prespective, I would refund your money, plus $25 or so. Not (just) to avoid a NEG but to do the right thing and keep you as a potential customer down the road. This has worked well for me when I lost a coin, had shipping delays, etc. Some of these folks now are really good coin buddies!

History's got nothing to do with the crappy service you just received. While others may be pleased with past service; you were screwed. He deserves a neutral at the minimum. If I screwed someone, I'd expect a neutral (if I was apologetic), and certainly a neg if I acted like a jerk. I would especially be pissed off if I wasted an opportunity to bid on another (similar) auction by bidding on his listing.

I agree with Mark on this one. It's disappointing not to be able to get your coin but things do happen. Maybe he'll find it. I had a situation where i won an item, paid for it then received an email saying they couldn't get it after all. I got a prompt refund so I left a positive FB and got one in return. No big deal.

I wouldn't Neg him for an honest mistake.

Mac, I think you did the right thing. The seller sounded like he was very sorry, and I think these things can happen. He had perfect feedback, so it probably was just an oversight. I understand your anger, but if he was being truthful I'm sure he was sorry. Take care.
